The tangerine peel is a microcosm that has infinite possibilities

The shape of just one orange peel changes depending on how it is cut and peeled. If you peel at random, random shapes appear. If you consider the design carefully, an amazing work of art is crafted.
Craft, in general, is made little by little, and the art of orange peeling is no different. First, a draft is made on the peel. Then it is cut according to drawn lines. Throughout the process, the shape of the final design cannot be seen. However, once it is peeled and the fruit is taken out, flattening the peel on the table suddenly reveals the final shape. You cannot experience this excitement in other types of crafts.
The idea of giving value to the tangerine peel, which was supposed to be just thrown away, is important for the Japanese people, who have the value of 'mottainai'(1): too good to be wasted.

I hope that you will enjoy this art which includes esthetics, philosophy, geometry, Japanese culture, some educational message, and various other factors.
